Miss Palouse Empire Fair Contest

QUEEN'S CONTEST - Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Community Building
(Coronation Ceremony to follow)

  1. Each High School community in Whitman County is eligible to enter a candidate in the Miss Palouse Empire contest. Candidate must be either in their sophomore or junior year of high school. Candidates must be available and willing to participate at events before and during the Fair. Miss Palouse Empire and her court will reign until September of the next year.
  2. It is required that a candidate be accompanied by no more than two princesses.
  3. Candidates must be active participants at the Fair in the present year. An active participant is someone who enters an exhibit, shows livestock, or is involved in some aspect of the Fair.
  4. Candidates must be willing to sell advance wristbands in their local communities and promote the Palouse Empire Fair during the summer months prior to the fair. Candidates are paid 10% of their total sales of $500.00 or more. A certificate is awarded to the queen candidate and princesses selling the most wristbands.
    Each candidate is judged on the following:
    • Judges Interview
    • Poise and Appearance
    • Talent
  5. Judges will be from areas not represented in the Miss Palouse Empire Contest. They are professional people in their own right and the decision of the judges will be final.
  6. Scholarships awarded to the three candidates selected to be Miss Palouse Empire Fair and her two princesses. The queen will receive a $750.00 scholarship and the two princesses will each receive a $300.00 scholarship.
  7. Deadline for entry is June 1st. Candidates must have their parents' permission before entering the contest. Parents' signature must be on the entry form.
